Bob’s Discount Furniture Donates $103,000 to Hunger-Relief Organizations

Furniture World News Desk on 11/19/2017

In celebration of the upcoming holidays, Bob’s Discount Furniture recently announced a donation of $103,000 to food pantries and hunger-relief programs within its markets throughout the northeast, mid-Atlantic, Midwest and West Coast. An organization near each of the 89 Bob’s Discount Furniture stores, five distribution centers and nine future store locations will receive a $1,000 donation from the furniture retailer.

“During this season of giving, we are excited to support food pantries in our communities for the fourth year in a row,” said Bob Kaufman, president emeritus and co-founder of Bob’s Discount Furniture. “We know that many people struggle to feed their families and we’re hoping these donations help stop hunger this holiday season.”

Throughout the year, the Bob’s Discount Furniture Charitable Foundation supports many children and youth service organizations. As the holidays approach, the retailer will spread its charitable arm to support those in need, providing necessary funds to local food pantries in the fight to end hunger.

“The holidays are especially hard for the families we serve because budgets run tighter with increased utility bills and holiday costs,” said Lisa Scales, president and CEO of Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. “We are thankful for the contribution Bob’s Discount Furniture is making to families in southwestern Pennsylvania. This $1,000 gift will provide enough food for 5,000 meals in our region.”
