Sealy Sofa Convertibles Adds Industry-Standard Sizes for Queen and Double Size Mattresses

Sealy Sofa Convertibles introduces a much-needed change to the sofa bed category: industry-standard sizes for Queen and Double size mattresses.

With the introduction of 60“X 80” Queen and 54”X 74” Double mattresses, gone are the days of ill-fitting sheets.

Many manufacturers claim to offer Queen and Double sized sofa convertibles but they are often not true mattress industry-standard sizes. Standard sheets don’t fit properly.

What took so long?

“The industry is complacent”, says Anthony da Silva, EVP Sales and Marketing for Sealy Sofa Convertibles. “The furniture industry has known for some time the common sofa bed is an uncomfortable sleep and is not up to mattress industry standards. It speaks volumes that Sealy, a mattress specialist, has stepped up and changed the status quo.”

What does industry standard sizes mean for retailers?

“Retailers will undoubtedly embrace Sealy’s innovation,” said Frank Rinella, Sales Manager for North America at Sealy Sofa Convertibles. “This creates a selling opportunity for the retailer. By having industry-standard sizes, the sales associate can complement the Sealy sale with margin-friendly accessory programs, like fitted sheets, mattress pads, and toppers -- programs many already have in their bedding galleries.”
