Art Van Furniture Donates 100 New Mattresses To Chicagoland Fire Stations

To help ensure that the courageous firefighters throughout Chicagoland receive the essential rest they need, Art Van Furniture announced the donation of  100 mattresses to several of the city’s fire stations, just in time for Christmas.

The Midwest’s No. 1 furniture and mattress retailer presented 16 extra-long twin mattresses to Chicago Firehouse Engine 106, Truck 13 and Ambulance 48 before delivering the remaining mattresses to firehouses across the city. Chicago Fire Commissioner Jose Santiago and Chicago Ward 33 Alderman Deb Mell were on hand to accept the donation.

“Firefighters serve and protect without hesitation, putting their lives at risk every day,” said Art Van Elslander, founder and chairman of Art Van Furniture. “These mattresses will provide them with comfort and support to achieve the best sleep possible so that they are rested and ready to serve their communities day or night.”

“The Chicago Fire Department is the largest fire department in the Midwest, with firefighters serving around the clock, responding to more than 1,000 calls daily,” said Jose Santiago, Chicago Fire Commissioner. “We are incredibly thankful for Art Van’s support, their generous gift and recognition of the hard work our firefighters provide the city of Chicago.”
