Grand Home Furnishings' Cartledge and Bennet Families To Be Honored

City of Hope’s National Home Furnishings Industry Group announced that it will honor the Cartledge and Bennett families, owners of the Grand Home Furnishings with The Spirit of Life® Award, City of Hope’s most prestigious philanthropic honor, on April 18. In its 45-year history, the National Home Furnishings Industry Group has raised more than $45 million for cancer research, treatment and education at City of Hope, one of the nation’s leading centers cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. The event takes place at the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel at Four Seasons.

“City of Hope is an enormous asset to patients everywhere who face a life-threatening disease,” said George Cartledge III, president, Grand Home Furnishings. “Our company is privileged to help the institution pursue new ideas and accelerate the pace of discovery so that cures can be found.”

Based in Roanoke, Va., Grand Home Furnishings is one of the largest furniture chains in the south with 15 stores in 14 cities throughout Western and Central Virginia, East Tennessee and the eastern part of West Virginia. The Cartledge family has owned and operated the company since 1945.
