Home Furnishings Association (HFA) Announces 2023 Retailer of the Year Winners

The Home Furnishing’s Association (HFA) recently annouced its 2023 Retailer of the Year winners, recognizing Old Brick Furniture & Mattress Co., BiltRite Furniture, Matt Pridemore of Badcock Home Furniture and More, Howard Haimsohn of Lawrance Furniture and Esquire Advertising. The official announcement was made during the HFA annual membership meeting held virtually on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. 2023. The winners are:

  • Old Brick Furniture & Mattress Co in Albany, NY., headed by Michael Fiacco—HFA Retailer of the Year with 50 or more employees.
  • BiltRite Furniture in Greenfield, WI., led by the Komisar family—HFA Retailer of the Year for fewer than 50 employees.
  •  Howard Haimsohn, President of Lawrance Furniture, located in San Diego, CA—HFA Trailblazer 
  •  Matt Pridemore, Owner of Badcock Home Furniture with stores headquartered in Valdosta, GA—HFA Emerging Star
  •  Esquire Advertising, Eric Grindley, Founder/CEO—HFA Partner of the Year

“Our Retailers of the Year all reflect a high level of excellence in the work they do. The judges felt this group exemplifies innovation, determination and stability in the face of a difficult year for all retailers. I can’t wiat to celebrate with them at their stores in the coming weeks,” said Mark Schumacher, HFA CEO.

The Retailer of the Year Award recognizes retailers large and small, that show excellence in the following areas:

  • Company Culture
  • Innovation

The Trailblazer award recognizes lifetime achievement in the retail furniture business. Haimsohn was selected based on several factors including:

  • Challenges overcome
  • Mentoring

The Emerging Star award recognizes an exceptional young talent in the home furnishings industry. Pridemore was chosen for his accomplishments in several categories, including:

  • Achievements

The Partner of the Year award recognizes the HFA Solution Partner contributing to our members’ success as a partner with HFA. The judging criteria were based on:

  • Innovation
