AHFA Solution Partners Division Awards Annual Scholarships

Furniture World News Desk on 7/4/2024

The Solution Partners division of the American Home Furnishings Alliance (AHFA) recently awarded $35,000 in education scholarships to the children of industry workers.

The Solution Partners Scholarship Program is supported by an annual golf tournament first held in 1990. The first four scholarships were awarded in 2000. Since then, 154 students have received financial assistance from AHFA to help them attend a university, community college or technical school.

This year the Solution Partners Scholarship Fund awarded 12 scholarships, six based on academic merit and financial need and six based on academic merit alone. All applicants for the $2,500 awards must be students who have a parent working full-time at an AHFA member company.

This year’s recipients include Maria Aguilar, daughter of Jenny Szynski, employed by Carpenter Company; Sema Altawam, daughter of Hadia Sharif, Ethan Allen; Zoey Boston, daughter of Ronald Boston, McCreary Modern; Callie Brown, daughter of Zach Brown, Jordan Manufacturing; Courtney Clark, daughter of Lisa Clark, Seaside Casual Furniture; and William Franklin, son of Jimmel Franklin, Rooms To Go.

Also, Caden Genrich, son of Eric Genrich, Lloyd Flanders; Jonathan Harper, son of Mark Harper, H.M. Richards; Kate Miller, daughter of Bradley Miller, Hooker Furnishings; Gabriela Rosales Moreno, daughter of Maria Moreno Espinoza, Vanguard Furniture; Briana Ruiz, daughter of Michele Rios, Ashley Furniture; and Isabel Zhou, daughter of Ellen Ma, Treasure Garden.

One additional award, the $5,000 Bill Hauck Memorial Scholarship, was presented to Taylor Cotie, daughter of Tina Hinshaw, who is employed by Legacy Classic. This award is funded by Deliveright Logistics, an AHFA Solution Partners member, and was first presented in 2023.

The 2024 Solution Partners Education Golf Tournament is slated for September 25 at Lake Hickory Country Club’s Catawba Springs Course in Hickory, North Carolina. All proceeds from the annual tournament go to the Solution Partners Education Fund. Team registration and sponsorships are still available.
