Easy Furniture Web Tip #360: Online Marketing Essentials

Furniture World News Desk on 11/5/2024

I was speaking with a friend at my Rotary meeting about his new business. It wasn’t a furniture business. It was a local personal services business. But I thought our conversation might be of interest to my Furniture World readers.

My friend had no clue how to market his new local business online.

I gave him my advice based on my experience with local clients, who often have limited budgets.

Here goes …

  1. Build a basic three-to-five page website.
  2. Build a Facebook page.
  3. Build an Instagram page.
  4. Load the above up with your products, services, and contact info.
  5. Take out local ads on Facebook (which includes Instagram and Messenger).
  6.

Depending on your audience, you might also want to invest in TikTok, although I have no personal experience with that platform..

Ads on local social media are relatively inexpensive and can bring in customers quickly. Plus campaigns can be built and launched quickly. They can also be turned on and off easily.

I’ve seen some folks be successful just with social media and no website. A Facebook page will position itself in search results even if you don’t have a website.

But, if you’re a serious business planning to be around for awhile, I do not recommend skipping the website. I see the website as the Mother Ship for all digital marketing.

I must caution that placing ads on Facebook/Instagram/Messenger (they are all on one platform) can be confusing. Very confusing. You might want to get some help. Or you just need to be patient as you learn to drive the tool.

Of course, I would love to add you should get someone professional (like me) to help with the text and SEO of the website … but that’s not as easy or inexpensive. But once your ads on social media get things going, you’ll have the money to hire that professional SEO copywriter.

Easy Furniture Web Tip 360: It’s easy to get started with online marketing, even on a small budget.
