Flexsteel Industries employees demonstrated their commitment to giving back through the annual Pack the President’s Office Challenge, a spirited initiative to fight food insecurity in the Dubuque community. This year, employees at the corporate headquarters and remote team members exceeded their ambitious goal, donating more than 9,000 food items to the St. Stephen’s Branch of River Bend Food Bank.
These contributions, totaling approximately 6,700 pounds, equate to an estimated 3,379 meals for those in need. Flexsteel further amplified its impact by pledging $1 for every pound of food collected. Combined with employee cash donations, the company raised $9,180, providing an additional 45,900 meals for local families.
“This is critical,” said Kathy Hutton, site leader at the Dubuque-based St. Stephen’s Branch of River Bend Food Bank. “This year, our requests have increased by 36% due to inflation, which is concerning because donations are down 26% overall.”
The Pack the President’s Office Challenge has evolved into more than a donation drive—a cherished tradition at Flexsteel that brings teams together for a shared purpose. Employees, divided into friendly, competitive teams, embrace the opportunity to support their community with enthusiasm and creativity. This annual initiative embodies the spirit of camaraderie and giving that defines Flexsteel’s culture.
Flexsteel Industries continues its partnership with the St. Stephen’s Branch of River Bend Food Bank, contributing to the fight against food insecurity in the Dubuque area.
