The first edition of idd cologne will take place from October 26–29, 2025, in Cologne,
Germany. Positioned as a new premium trade fair for high-quality interior design concepts, the event will gather
brands, design professionals, and enthusiasts from across Europe. Its central theme, "Shaping Homes &
Hospitality", will explore future-oriented approaches to residential, hotel, and public space
interiors.
Organizers say the fair reflects a shift in the interior design industry, with increased attention on sustainability,
longevity, and the emotional impact of environments.
“With a diverse range of products and services exhibited by leading premium brands and an inspiring event
programme, idd cologne is positioning itself as a pivotal source of inspiration for future-oriented interior design
concepts. Our aim is to energise the entire industry – from the specialised trade and interior design
professionals to decision-makers in the contract and corporate business sectors, not forgetting private visitors
with a passion for design – and play an active role in shaping the future of living and interior
design,” says Maik Fischer, Director of idd cologne.
Event Focus Areas
The event will highlight several core topics:
- Durability and Design Passion: Emphasis will be placed on long-lasting, high-quality products
that reduce resource consumption while allowing for personal expression and design innovation.
“Durability goes hand in hand with a passion for design, beauty and quality. Our industry faces the task of
actively shaping interior design so that these values are reflected in holistic concepts. And that is precisely
where idd cologne comes in: as a platform where visions take on a physical form that can be experienced,”
explains Dick Spierenburg, Creative Director of idd cologne.
-
Well-being and Comfort: The event will present interiors designed to influence mood and
interaction, with a focus on spaces that foster calm, security, and social connection.
-
Material-Driven Design: Sustainable, resource-conscious materials will be a key area of
exploration, particularly those aligning with premium aesthetics and values.
idd cologne’s holistic approach encourages industry participants to consider how interior design can impact
quality of life, with a focus on both form and function.
