World Market Center Las Vegas announced that author Franklin Levy will will speak about his new book, “Die Decorator Die” at Las Vegas Design Center’s First Friday event Friday, April 3, 2009, in C-184 at World Market Center Las Vegas.

Was it Col. Mustard in the freshly painted library with a putty knife? Or perhaps Miss Scarlet in the porte cochere with the tape measure? Anything can happen when the world of design meets law then collides with a “whodunit.”

“I look forward to talking about the literary meeting of the worlds of law, design, humor and intrigue and how my experiences with the design community led to ‘fiction,’” says Levy.

In addition to being an author, Levy is counsel to Las Vegas Sands Corporation. He also has been studying design by proxy for 30 years, thanks to his wife, Lynda, who is an interior designer. “Die Decorator Die” combines his knowledge of law and design and applies it to a murder mystery set in a Boston decorator showcase house.

“When I decided to write a book I heeded the advice of ‘write what you know’ and combined law and decorating,” says Levy. “I was a big fan of the mystery genre so I aimed in that direction.”

Levy, originally from Boston, graduated from Yale University and received a law degree from University of Pennsylvania Law School.  After practicing law in Boston for 30 years, he moved to Las Vegas in 2005 to serve as counsel to Las Vegas Sands Corporation, owner of the Venetian and Palazzo Resorts.  During his time in Boston he specialized in trial work and handled numerous high profile criminal, civil and probate matters.  All the while, he helped his wife, Lynda, with her interior design business, whether that meant returning fabrics to the design center or delivering accessories to show houses. It gave him a new insight into the entire design industry.

In addition to their separate careers, Franklin and Lynda have a literary background as founders of N Magazine of Nantucket Island and creators of the nantucketfoggysheet.com.

Franklin is currently working on his second novel, which will be another design-meets-crime novel, and will be set in part in Las Vegas.
