ICFF, May 15-18, 2004 - Who Will Be The Next Generation Of Design Stars And How Will They Change The Way We Live.

The International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) announced that RAW: The Next Generation, an exhibition of emerging designers that will highlight many of the most promising talents to recently appear on the international design landscape. In collaboration with METROPOLIS Magazine and its Next Generation competition, the exhibition will cover several thousand square feet of the North Pavilion of ICFF, which takes place at New York’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from May 15-18, 2004. Designed and curated by architect, designer, writer and scholar Marco Pasanella, RAW will include work by approximately forty designers from around the globe who exemplify the “next generation” of designers and thinkers who shape the way we live and work. Including everything from Objects to environments, breakthrough product concepts to revoluntionary urban planning ideas, the exhibition will be juried by: METROPOLIS editor-in-chief Susan Szenasy; Frame magazine editor Robert Thiemann; Sandy Chilewich of Chilewich; Scott Henderson of Smart Design; and others. Together these jurors will select designers in several categories who will be awarded a free booth at the 2005 ICFF. RAW is being organized in conjunction with METROPOLIS Magazine and its Next Generation competition, which yearly awards $10,000 to an emerging designer who shows particular promise in both design and entrepreneurship. After sixteen years, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair has become North America’s leading event for modern and contemporary design, and takes place each May at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Last year, over 17,000 visitors attended the fair, which featured over 450 of the finest manufacturers of contemporary design from over twenty countries.
