Hekman, a leading name in the design and crafting of fine furniture for more than 80 years anounced the introduction of 16 new pieces to its popular Rue De Bac collection. They include new bedroom furniture plus occasional pieces for the Living Room and Home Office. The new Rue De Bac pieces harken back to a relaxed lifestyle marked by wine-rich land, a warm mix of outdoor enjoyment and indoor activity where the hearth and kitchen are the center of all socializing.
The design focus for the April 2009 introductions continues with the rustic interpretations of the more formal French Provincial styles, which characterized the inaugural Rue De Bac collection last Fall. They feature a look that is warmer, more informal, evoking a coziness and comfort that is extremely appealing.
Each piece of the Rue de Bac collection has distinctive architectural features that are characteristic of French Provincial furniture – rustic beams, heavy metal accessories and contrasting use of light and dark shades of woods. Specifically, one of the table tops included in these new additions feature a diamond pattern of hand-hewn solids alternating between mahogany and select hardwoods creating a rich contrast of light and dark tones, while another provides the added detail of metal framework that spans between the legs of the base. New also this Spring are Bunching Tables that reflect a fresh design for Rue de Bac with clean sculpted legs.
Included within the warm, sumptuous bedroom offerings are Queen, King and California King Beds with a generous headboard of hand-hewn mahogany and walnut planks framed by six-inch posts. The beds are furnished with a curved footboard that complements the foot of the bed with its French post leg, allowing it to float above the floor.
Rounding out the bedroom furnishings are a 72-inch dresser with nine drawers, 60-inch chest with ample six drawer and two-door compartments for storage, a chest that serves as a nightstand or could double in a living room setting beside a sofa, and a man's chest with five generous storage drawers – a staple for any bedroom.
While reminiscent of a by-gone era of luxury and fine living, these new Rue de Bac offerings are right at home in 21st century homes, providing all the functional needs discerning home owners need and expect.
Rue de Bac continues Hekman's appeal to the "Great Room" casual lifestyle so prevalent in today's homes. This eclectic array of French Provincial styles with a rustic charm, offer the richness of hand-hewn solid wood surfaces that appeals to customers who want a beautiful home that is also truly livable.
