The Hitchcock Chair Co., Ltd. announced today the appointment of Russ Ferguson as National Sales and Marketing Manager. Aimed at establishing a leading edge in home fashion, quality and customer care, Hitchcock is currently completing a restructuring. As one of the few vertically integrated furniture companies, serving as both a retailer and manufacturer, the appointment will position the company for continued growth and profitability into the next millennium. "We took a look at what our company needed to stay distinctly Hitchcock," said Ron Coleman, President. "Then we studied market trends and customer needs, assisted by Britt Beamer of America's Research Group, and carefully began the process of assembling a team of industry leaders to help us balance tradition and trends. Our goal at Hitchcock is to create lasting designs for our customers' lifestyles," Coleman said. With more than 22 years of experience in the furniture industry, Ferguson will head Hitchcock's sales force as national Sales and Marketing Manager. Before joining Hitchcock, Ferguson was the general manager of Knob Creek Company, a division of Ethan Allen. A long-time Ethan Allen employee, he served as a sales representative, a sales director, merchandiser, production planner and product developer. Ferguson specializes in the development and marketing of fine wood furniture products through "medium to upper end" furniture retailers. He is responsible for product development, merchandising and sales of Hitchcock-manufactured products outside the company owned stores. At Hitchcock, his main focus will be maintaining Hitchcock's retail presence throughout the United States. Ferguson is based in Winston-Salem, N.C., but also has an office at corporate headquarters in New Hartford, Conn. Originally established in 1824 in Hitchcocksville (now Riverton), Conn., Hitchcock's name is synonymous with quality in the furniture industry. Famously known for its stenciled chairs and cabinets, Hitchcock now also produces 18th Century and Shaker style designs in solid cherry.
