HFIA offices have relocated to Suite 170 in the World Trade Center at the Dallas Market Center. The new location continues to offer HFIA members and visitors ready access on the first floor, in the front of the building. After 15 years in virtually the same location, with various expansions and reconfiguration of space, the Association is pleased with the opportunity to focus more on its core business of meeting the needs of members and prospective members. President Mary Frye states, “Our new office is less visible, but is still located in one of the most beautiful wholesale buildings in our industry.” The relocation also brought about the closing of the popular Market Bookstore. Plans are being explored for continuing the bookstore in an online, virtual format, but no decision has been reached at this time. The Dallas Market Center opted not to renew HFIA’s lease in order to create a new rug center in response to a need for additional expansion space for the rug industry in the World Trade Center. The new rug center is intended to provide easy access for designers and to increase the Market Center’s exposure to the design community. “As with any change, HFIA now has the opportunity to reevaluate strategies and take a fresh approach to serving the home furnishings industry in an even more effective way,” says Frye.
