Despite being a much larger event than last year at 24,000m, the 14th Annual Furnitex is almost a sellout with stand numbers up in virtually every category. Furniture manufacturers and wholesalers account for well over three-quarters of exhibitors with numbers up by nearly 40% on last year, including a number of commercial furniture manufacturers exhibiting for the first time. Furnitex 2001, to be held from 21st to 24th July in the prestigious Melbourne Exhibition Centre as part of the week-long "Furnishing Festival", now encompasses three distinct shows: • "New Product Parade" – for brand new products which have not been seen on retail shop floors. • "The Furniture Show" – the very best of international furniture and some old favourites. • "Hospitality Exposed" – products designed specifically for this important industry. Increasing numbers of furniture retailers, architects, decorators and interior designers are attending Furnitex. Interstate visits, particularly from New South Wales, have grown markedly in recent years and the number of international visitors is also expanding dramatically, making the Exhibition a truly international event. Last year, the number of individual trade visitors was more than 12% higher than the previous year, and organisers are confidently expecting a similar increase for Furnitex 2001. Visitors can easily pre-register at the Furnitex website, now in the top 10% of sites for visits in Australia, www.furnitex.com.au. Travel and accommodation can also be arranged directly on the site through the Furnitex official travel agents, NGT Travel/Webjet. Make sure you don’t miss the furniture event of the year, Furnitex 2001.
