Two Michigan legends, Art Van Furniture and Motown, are celebrating their 50th Birthdays. Art Van announced that it will cap off its 50th Anniversary with a concert to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank—and doing it to the sweet sounds of Motown.

The ‘Michigan Legends Charity Concert’ features The Original Vandellas, The Miracles, and The Contours with Joe Billingslea. It will be hosted by yet another Michigan Legend, 104.3 WOMC’s Dick Purtan. Plus, Art Van Furniture will announce the winner of its 1959 fully restored Corvette convertible (another icon celebrating a 50th birthday).

The concert will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2009, 7:00 pm, at the Warren Art Van Store, 6500 E. 14 Mile Road. The store will be turned into a festive concert setting for the event, and free birthday cake and refreshments will be served, in true ‘birthday party’ style. Doors open at 6:00 pm, when the Motown artists will be available to sign copies of their newly released CD “Motorcity Hits” prior to the concert.

100% of the ticket sales will benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan, through the generosity of Art Van Furniture who is underwriting all event expenses.  Those attending the concert are also asked to bring cans of food for donation.

Concert tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased at all 31 Art Van stores while supplies last. Metro Detroit area stores will be collecting can donations throughout November, and are giving free Motorcity Hits CDs to the first twenty people at each store who bring ten cans of food this weekend.
