GHFA Announces 47th Annual Convention

The Georgia Home Furnishings Association is pleased to announce their 47th Annual Convention at the Hilton Oceanfront Resort, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The dates for this exciting event are June 24 - 29, 2001. This annual gathering is open to anyone in a home furnishings related industry. Our four-day convention consists of informative educational seminars, sports tournaments, family activities, and the installation of officers. Our first seminar will be held Monday, June 25th, and will be led by Ana Hester, Vice President of Administration and Sales Planning of Corbett Lighting. The topic, "Profiles of the 21st Century - Consumer, Retailer, Sales Representative", will help you understand how the changing profile of the 21st century consumer is necessitating crucial business changes for retailer and sales representatives. A hot topic for the entire retail industry, "Recruiting, Hiring and Keeping Quality Employees" is the theme for our second seminar led by Sam Leder, president of Shepherd Retail Recruiting. All are welcome to sit and discuss this major concern of hiring and retaining great employees! A real treat for all attendees is our Wednesday morning keynote speaker, Jerry Epperson, well-known and highly respected industry analyst. Jerry will give us a fresh look at the home furnishings industry with respect to the trends and developments of which we need to be aware to operate our businesses in the 21st century. Entertainment highlights of the convention include an opening night, beach-side, Low-Country Boil complete with entertainment by Hilton Head’s own Rick Hubbard and His All-Kid Kazoo Band. Delicious food and an exciting murder-mystery are on the menu for our second night together. The ladies will enjoy a special program at the annual Ladies Luncheon. Patty Chirico, Professional Organizer and gifted motivational speaker, will speak on "Organizing our Lives–The Genesis Principle". On the agenda for our final evening will be crowd favorite, Keith Williams, presenting the musical entertainment and Georgia-grown humorist and motivational speaker Wayne Ates will provide refreshing, laid-back fun for the attendees. The annual GHFA convention sporting events include the Claude Bailey Golf Tournament, Mixed/Men’s/Ladies Tennis tournaments, and the Retailers vs. Reps Volleyball tournament. Creative, fun children’s programs are also available.
