W.S. Badcock Corporation, one of the country’s largest furniture retailers, announced today that they signed their first Limited Area Development Agreement. This agreement states that a dealer will develop multiple Badcock Home Furniture &more stores in various markets. Terrell and Kathy Williams, who signed the first agreement, will open a Badcock &more in Sevierville, Tennessee with stores to follow in Maryville, Halls and Morristown, Tennessee. These are new markets for Badcock, who plans to continue the expansion throughout the state of Tennessee. “We are extremely pleased to have signed our first multi-store agreement. We are aggressively seeking dealers for new markets throughout the southeast, and are particularly interested in potential dealers who are considering developing several Badcock &more stores,” said Mike Whitten, Director of Dealer Development. Each Limited Area Development Agreement is a binding contract that limits other potential Badcock dealers from coming into that market. In addition to the Agreement, dealers will sign a site-specific dealer contract at the time the store opens. “Badcock offers the benefits of business ownership, such as being your own boss and having flexible hours, with the backing of a large company with a 100 year history,” said Whitten. “The multi-store contract, along with the superior training and support of our dealer system, increases the dealers’ potential for success and really allows for unlimited opportunity.” Badcock has approximately 240 stores that are dealer owned and operated. Dealerships are similar to franchises in that they are individually owned and operated, but require less capital (dealers do not pay franchise fees or monthly royalties) and allows for quicker start up than a traditional franchise. Badcock provides all stores with total inventory at no cost to the dealer and all account financing through the parent company. About Badcock: Badcock Home Furniture &more has more than 320 locations throughout the southeast and is headquartered in Mulberry, Florida, where the company was established in 1904.
