The American Furniture Hall of Fame asks you to focus on the history of American Furniture in the US as you make changes in your companies. "Who is going to save and protect the story of your early beginnings, and changes?" asks Joe Richardson III, AFHF president. He continued, "How will history document your contributions to furniture manufacturing or retailing? How will they remember the kinds of products you sell, your marketing strategies, customer base, company management and acquisitions? In addition to company history archives, a major part of the AFHF program is collecting this history through oral histories of industry heroes through oral history interviews." According to Joe Carroll, Publisher of Furniture Today and current Oral Interview Chairman, "we are fortunate to have Roy Briggs, an industry author, historian and consultant, who conducts the scheduled interviews from the perspective of one who has first-hand experience in the industry." Over the past fifteen years, AFHF has conducted and transcribed twenty-eight interviews. The AFHF has also elected sixty industry leaders as Members of the Hall of Fame. Their portraits and brief bios are on exhibit in the Furniture Discovery Center on Green Street at Main in High Point. We ask that all company leaders focus on the recording and saving of their history. Please contact AFHF and let us know where your archives are being saved or how we can help. The American Furniture Hall of Fame is an all-industry effort organized to honor those individuals whose outstanding achievements have contributed to the continued growth and development of the American manufactured furniture industry and to research, collect and preserve its "cultural, economic and artistic history.
