Cargill's Polyurethanes business unit announced that Cargill’s BiOH® Polyols’ Project UDesign winner Ryland Quillen and his next generation sustainable wing chair have journeyed from design rendering to prototype, to the finished sample that will debut at the spring High Point Market, since the result of last fall's first crowdsourced student furniture design competition was determined by over 4,000 online votes.

High Point Market attendees are invited to meet the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) senior, who will be on hand to share his story and the inspiration behind Alifair, a stately, modern chair covered in eco-friendly Ultrasuede® and featuring unique cut-out features on the wings, in Century Furniture's Historic Market Square showroom, on Sunday, April 3, 10 to 11 a.m.

Quillen will receive a royalty for each unit of the chair Century sells. He was also awarded a $1,000 prize from Cargill’s BiOH® polyols business unit last year.

Project UDesign was conceived by Cargill's
Polyurethanes business unit –makers of the soy-based ingredient which replaces a percentage of petroleum in foam used for upholstered furniture cushioning - to heighten awareness around the subject of sustainability in home furnishings.
