Meco, a leader in folding furniture and maker of the popular Aussie Grill line, announced the opening of a new 175,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Saltillo, Mexico to provide faster turnaround and improved logistics to its retail partners. The facility will manufacture folding furniture, as well as outdoor grill components to be used by the company’s Greeneville plant.
Meco’s North American manufacturing facilities, both in Mexico and Tennessee, significantly reduce transit time to meet the needs of retailers in today’s fast-paced market. Inventory will be closer to home.
“We anticipate our new plant will reduce the supply chain timeline by upwards of 75%, reducing lead times and increasing inventory flexibility for our customers,” said Harrell Ward, President of Meco. “We have further extended this flexibility by implementing best practice LEAN manufacturing methods. As raw materials and transportation costs continue to rise, we are committed to providing our customers with best in class products and services.”
The new plant will also feature a large showroom to display the company’s extensive line of folding furniture, including trend-forward styles that transcend category expectations to compete in the everyday casual furniture segment.

By taking 75% out of the supply chain timeline, we give our customers more breathing room and increased profitability,” said Ward.
Moving production to North America also effectively eliminates the negative environmental impact of about 5,000 miles of transportation distress.
