Household Selects Valerie Greer as Senior Vice President of Business Development for Retail Services Business

Household International announced that Ms. Valerie Greer has been appointed senior vice president of business development for Household Retail Services business, a unit of Household International (NYSE: HI). Founded in 1878, Household is a leading provider of consumer loan, credit card, auto finance and credit insurance products in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. In the U.S., Household's retail services business provides business solutions to 70 merchant partners to help them attract new customers and build customer loyalty. With retailers in such industries as furniture, consumer electronics, powersports, home products and apparel, Household is the nation's second largest private label credit card provider. Greer is responsible for developing new private label credit card relationships with retailers and manufacturers. She was previously assistant vice president of business development at Household Retail Services where she was instrumental in establishing new relationships with retailers Menards and QVC, as well as manufacturers Compaq, Toshiba, and IBM. Greer launched her career in 1985 with The Royal Bank of Canada in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as a branch administration officer. In 1986 she joined Aetna Canada as an insurance representative. She was ranked third in Canada for new agents in premiums written. She joined the Household team in 1988 as an account executive for Household Finance Corp. in Canada. During the next two years she was promoted several times to mortgage manager and retail manager for HFC in Vancouver, British Columbia. From July 1991 to October 1992, Greer was selected for Household International's general management training program and received hands-on training in all of Household's business units. She was then promoted to assistant vice president, retail sales for Household Financial Corp. of Canada in Toronto, Ontario. She managed four branch offices with 36 staff, $200 million in loan account and $60 million in deposits. She held this position until joining Household's retail services business as assistant vice president, client relations, where she managed a multi-million dollar merchant portfolio. In 2000, she joined the retail services' businessdevelopment team as assistant vice president, prior to assuming her current position. Greer received a bachelor's of science degree in economics from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, in 1986.
