Walker Promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer Of Herman Miller, Inc.

Michael Volkema, Herman Miller's Chairman and CEO, announced that Brian Walker, 40, is being promoted to the position of President and COO of Herman Miller, Inc. (NASDAQ:MLHR) . For the past three years, Walker has led the company's North American operations, spearheading the company's efforts to provide customers with innovative products, reliable service and superior results. "We could not have navigated the turbulent waters of the past 18 months without Brian Walker's exceptional leadership," Volkema said. "His promotion is not only in recognition of his past performance, but signals our intent to better leverage our capabilities worldwide." Walker is a native of Jackson, Michigan, and a graduate of Michigan State University. He is a certified public accountant. Walker joined Herman Miller in 1989 and served in a number of financial positions before joining Volkema's leadership team in 1996. Walker is a board member for Brown Corporation and Briggs & Stratton, and he also is a member of the International Advisory Board for Stern Stewart. Walker is married and the father of three children.
