The 2003 Canadian Home Furnishings Medallion Awards were presented to the Canadian Residential Furniture Industry at a Gala Reception held in the new Aviation Ballroom at the International Centre in Mississauga, on January 12, 2003. The Medallion awards are a national program that celebrates achievements in the marketing, design and construction of home furnishings produced in Canada. The current program has its roots in the Trillium Award program that made awards in each of the last 28 years. The awards are presented to the company whose product attains the highest point value allocated by the Jury within a product category. The Jury is comprised of 15 leading Canadian furniture retailers who evaluated the products on specific, defined criteria. Thirty-one category awards were presented to the manufacturers by Stephen Coombs of Schenker Stinnes Logistics, Robert Ward of Leggett & Platt and Eric Warren of Hercules Forwarding Inc. Winners can be viewed at www.furninof.com/canadaawards2003. The Grand Medallion is presented annually to the one product that achieves the highest number of overall points allocated by the Jury and best illustrates the true meaning of the award demonstrating measurable design, quality and marketing leadership. Robert Ward, President of No-Sag Spring Company, a division of Leggett & Platt presented the 2003 Grand medallion to Sofas International, a division of Shermag Inc.
