AFMA Launches Furniture Standards Web Page

The American Furniture Manufacturers Association has teamed up with the Furniture Manufacturing and Management Center at N.C. State University in the launch of a new web page featuring furniture standards and specifications.The new page can be found on AFMA’s member website: www.afma4u.org. “AFMA saw the need for a repository of standards where our members could go to one location and find the requirements they need for the manufacturing of furniture,” said Bill Perdue, AFMA’s director of environmental, safety and technical affairs. “We have placed every pertinent standard in this single source for easy access.”Features of the new page include the following:Upholstery and case goods furniture construction standards; Fabric standards; Leather standards; Foam standards; Recliner standards ; Front burner issues; Glossary of terms (for the Joint Industry Fabric Standards Committee); Tagging law manual; Test procedure videos; News and notes. Additional features will be added as the need arises, Perdue said. The American Furniture Manufacturers Association is headquartered in High Point, N.C. – the furniture capital of the world – and represents more than 200 leading U.S. furniture manufacturers and an additional 250 suppliers to the industry.
