AFMA Finance Division Recognizes Forecaster Of The Year

For the second time in the last four years, John White of Korn Industries was presented with Forecaster of the Year Award by the Finance Division of the American Furniture Manufacturers Association (AFMA). Mr. White made the most accurate predictions for several economic indicators at the 1996 Economic Outlook Conference. The award was presented at the 1997 Economic Outlook Conference on December 10 in Charlotte, NC. Items contest entrants forecast include changes in Real GDP, Housing Starts, Consumer Price Inflation, and the Prime Interest Rate average for 3rd quarter. Specific to the furniture industry, meeting participants predicted the change in Consumer Furniture Demand and Furniture Shipments. The Forecaster of the Year Award is given annually to the Economic Outlook Conference participant who most accurately predicted economic conditions at the previous year's meeting. AFMA is a nonprofit, volunteer organization for U.S. furniture manufacturers, with 350 corporate members representing 150,000 employees and more than 75% of domestic and global shipments of U.S. furniture.
