The Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF) series continues into its seventh successive year with MIFF 2001 scheduled for 6 - 10 March 2001. The exhibition will again be held at the prestigious Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur. The encouraging results of all previous editions of the MIFF series from 1995 -2000 has led to the annual increase of exhibition size, number of exhibitors and also its international popularity. Official statistics of each exhibition reveals a healthy trend of participation by both exhibitor and visitor alike. The externally audited results of MIFF 2000 confirmed that a total of 17,566 visitors had attended the show with 5,633 of them coming from 113 countries worldwide. From these, a staggering amount of USD 481.6 million worth of furniture export orders were received during the 5-day show period in the 7 exhibition halls covering more than 35,000 square meters at the same venue. "Next year's event will see an increase of sorts." according to Tan Chin Huat, Organizing Chairman of the MIFF series. "MIFF 2001 will incorporate two (2) additional exhibition halls contributing over 5,000 ml in exhibition space." Tan added. With the new exhibition space, the total size area of the exhibition is now in excess of 40,000 square meters , representing an increase of about 15% from previously. International visitors will be pleased with the increase in the number of exhibitors at MIFF 2001. "The effectiveness of the MIFF series as a furniture export platform over the years had encouraged more and more furniture industrialists to exhibit in the show." said Tan. Today, the MIFF series is recognized globally as Asia's favorite international furniture buying stop, earning it the reputation as the premier furniture trade exhibition of this region, "We are expecting even more international buyers to attend the exhibition next year. The MIFF has become a "must-visit" fair for them and we are pleased to see the world's furniture industry literally converging in Kuala Lumpur every year at the MIFF. " Tan added. As with previous years, the Organizer has made extensive preparations to ensure a good exhibition for all. "From the moment they step into the KL International Airport, until they leave for home, we try our best to ensure the convenience of the buyers." said Tan. There are complimentary pre-show programs for guests arriving early and special accommodation packages at the Official Hotels. In conjunction with the exhibition, there are also a series of industry related seminars and a trade matching program for business facilitation. "Malaysia is a beautiful country. We are encouraging our visitors to mix a bit of pleasure with their business at MIFF to enjoy Malaysia's unique blend of hospitality, culture, sights and sounds." Tan quipped. On this promotion, the MIFF is working very closely with all Official Hotels and Malaysia Airlines, as the Official Airline, who has all promised to accord preferential arrangements to MIFF guests. The MIFF series is the official furniture export exhibition of Malaysia and is endorsed by the Government and all related agencies such as the Ministry of Primary Industry, Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Malaysian Timber Council (MTC), Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) and the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board (Tourism Malaysia). The exhibition is also fully backed by the furniture industry of Malaysia through the support of the National furniture Council.
