The world of home furniture and furnishings will meet from 15th to 21st January 2001 at the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR in Cologne. Over 1,500 suppliers will participate at the international pilot fair for furniture and interior design: the market leaders from Germany and abroad will be represented in almost their entirety. Buyers from around 100 countries and a foreign share of over 60 percent on the exhibitors' side will once again make the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR the global market place for the furniture and furnishings sector. In January 2001, the lighting suppliers will once again light up the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR Cologne: leading suppliers from Germany and abroad will show a broad spectrum of lighting for the home. Trade visitors can thus inform themselves simultaneously about the world market range of furniture and lighting on just one trade fair visit. The manufacturers of high-quality lighting ranges are brought together in Cologne with the international specialist trade, one of their most important target groups. In Germany, over 50 percent of home lighting is sold via the furniture and furnishings specialist trade. Lighting is shown every two years - each time in the odd years - in Cologne. In the even years, kitchen and bathroom furniture has its platform in Cologne. Interior Lifestyle Centre shows universal concepts In the "Interior Lifestyle Centre" sector in Hall 13.3, comprehensive furnishing concepts will form the focal point: following on from the first presentation in January 2000, companies which completely devote themselves to the theme of home furniture and furnishings - i.e. solutions from "a single source" - will present their ranges and introduce their furnishing philosophies. With the "Interior Lifestyle Centre", KölnMesse is responding to the sector trend of addressing target groups and markets with a lifestyle-oriented approach. "Classic Atmosphere" - style and mood Classic Atmosphere - the name is appropriate: here, mood and atmosphere are created. The spectrum of the sector in Halls 1-3 (ground floor) and Hall 5 extends from classic furniture, which rigidly follows the styles of the various epochs, via modern interpretations of older styles up to furniture in ethno-touch and Country Style. Parallel to the concept of the "Interior Lifestyle Centre", comprehensive furnishing concepts will also be shown within the framework of the "Classic Atmosphere" segment, i.e. harmonious home furnishings worlds in terms of style and classic features, which extend beyond the presentation of individual furniture. Nachlux design competition and "iF Exhibition Design Award" As was already the case at the successful premiere of the "Lighting Centre" in 1999, the prize-winning entries from the Nachlux design competition will be presented at the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR. This year, the motto of the young talent competition for innovative light design will be "Delicious light - Lighting and food." A further competition will also be featured for the second time at the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR: the "iF Exhibition Design Award", from the renowned "Industry Forum Design Hanover", is presented in recognition of exceptional trade fair presentations. All exhibitors as well as their stand designers and stand constructors are invited to enter. Point of Support five-day communication forum The range at the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR will be complemented by the Point of Support - ideas + visions communication forum from 15th to 19th January 2001, i.e. parallel to the five trade visitor days. The forum is designed as a meeting place for furniture industry suppliers, manufacturers and the trade. Point of Support - in the Congress-Centre East, and thus in the immediate vicinity of the exhibition halls - will offer optimal preconditions for vertical communication through all stages of the value-added chain in the furniture sector.
