Bringing a new type of 'design-it-yourself' modular furniture to the mass market, Lynette Jennings and Sauder Woodworking are partnering to produce a system of cube and shelving components that can be configured to create an almost endless array of customized home furnishings solutions. The licensing partnership with Jennings, an internationally renowned TV personality, award-winning designer and highly regarded home improvement specialist, is the first such agreement for Sauder. The innovative system, called QBits, features seven cube, shelf and feet components that can be arranged to create storage walls, entertainment centers, desks, tables, bath storage, cabinets and towers. "The simple-to-use system is just the kind of smart, stylish and economical decorating solution Lynette Jennings is so famous for among millions of North Americans," explained Susan Dountas, vice president of merchandising for Sauder. "Using QBits is as easy as playing with blocks: Stack the cubes; stagger them; solve space problems. Build furniture that re-arranges when you move. In awkward spaces where nothing else fits, make your own combination of cubes work for you," Jennings says, explaining the universal adaptability of the modular system. Sauder is producing the QBits system in four up-to-the-minute finishes, using translucent door inserts and nickel-finished feet and hardware for a stylish, adaptable effect. The system's seven components include an open cube, a cube with door, a cube with drawer, a larger "Combi-Cube," a desktop with keyboard shelf, a shelf that spans four cubes and optional feet. The system is available in Cassava Maple, Metal Tenzin, Dark Alder and White finishes. The components range in price from $8 to $40. Consumers simply determine the size and configuration of the modular system they desire, use interlocking hardware to attach each component to the next, and add the stylish nickel-finished feet if they wish. An array of retail display options will make it easy for dealers to set up an engaging floor presentation that attracts customer interest. Informative POP materials will show consumers the expansive number of ways QBits can be used. Lynette Jennings hosts the Discovery Channel's most highly rated daytime show, Lynette Jennings Design, which reaches 1.2 million households per day. She also is the wellknown spokesperson for Home Depot and author of a design book, which is being released by Meredith Publishing in October. Sauder Woodworking, North America's leading manufacturer of RTA furniture, is headquartered in Archbold, Ohio. For more information on Sauder, visit the company's Web site at www.sauder.com.
