The Location in High Point, North Carolina, is home to the largest wholesale home furnishings market in the world. The Home Furnishings Marketing Program is the only place to receive a bachelor's degree that combines courses in home furnishings with a quality curriculum of liberal arts and business courses. There are two majors within the program: 1. Sales and marketing for those who wish to combine the study of home furnishing and a comprehensive core of business courses. 2. Interior design for those who wish to study residential interior design along with the home furnishings marketing courses. Field trips and guest speakers are a key part of the program, not only because of the home furnishings market, but also because of the large concentration of furniture manufacturing within easy driving distance of High Point. Placement of graduates in Jobs within the home furnishings industry has been highly successful. According to a recent survey of all graduates of the program, 75% are productively employed in positions related to the home furnishings industry. An advisory board of industry experts meets with the faculty on a regular basis to help ensure that the program is on target and meets the needs of the industry. Internships and part-time Jobs are available to home furnishings students to give them a taste of the "real world" prior to graduation. A relatively small campus of 2400 students from 35 states and 31 foreign countries makes for a good academic setting in which to form meaningful friendships and get a good education. A 17 to 1 student-faculty ratio allows for small classes (averaging around 20 students) and the opportunity to get to know the instructors personally. High Point University enjoys a good academic reputation because of its top-notch faculty, curriculum and the fact that graduates are successful when they enter the world of work.
