A number of leading manufacturers are making the decision to sell only to retailers who buy in container-sized quantities, but not Whitewood Industries. The company’s John Thomas Furniture division is offering retailers the option of placing no-minimum orders, even if that means selling "onesies." "I’ve been reading more and more about manufacturers who are streamlining their customer bases by selling only to those willing to buy in container quantities," observes Davis Beaston, vice president of Whitewood’s John Thomas Furniture division. "At Whitewood, we know there’s a lot of business to be had out there, year after year, from retailers who simply choose not to buy in container loads. We’re out to meet retailers’ needs for well-styled product in whatever volume they want, whether that’s a boatload, a truckload, or one piece at a time." The John Thomas Furniture division of Whitewood Industries premiered in April, 2001 at the International Home Furnishings Market and began shipping orders in late August. Introductions planned for the October, 2001 Market will double the size of the division’s existing collections. Founded in 1982, Whitewood Industries is based in Thomasville, N.C. and includes the design-oriented John Thomas division and the International Concepts division. The company also produces dining, occasional, outdoor and juvenile pieces for the ready-to-finish furniture market. The Whitewood showroom is located at 215 S. Main Street in High Point.
