Same store sales for stores in existence for more than one year increased 3%. For the fiscal year-to-date period, total sales increased 9% to $366.0 million compared to $334.8 million last year. Same store sales increased 4% for the forty-eight week period ended January 1, 2000. Robert S. Jackson, Chief Executive Officer, stated, "Our strategy to emphasize gifts and accessories drove double digit sales growth in these areas and a 21% increase in the transaction count. We were also very pleased with holiday results from our Internet site which featured an expanded SKU count this year. This strong performance was somewhat offset by continued softness in furniture sales resulting in overall total sales growth of 7%."
