NOVA Lighting, a leading resource of contemporary and transitional, medium-priced portable lighting, introduces several new transitional lamps--- the "Parallux Series", "Flip Series" and "Abacus." NOVA Lighting retains a showroom in the San Francisco Design Center, Concourse, Showroom #514. The "Parallux Series": The "Parallux Series" features stunning, three-dimensional geometric bases with smooth, straight lines and pitched angles. Its inverted square and rectangular shapes feature a contemporary look in lighting. This unique design leads the eye to another dimension, similar to a parallax. The "Abacus Series": The "Abacus Series" features a contemporary expression of an old world look, using an abacus as its centerpiece. The large wooden spheres are stacked in the center of this sleek table lamp. Brushed Nickel rods support the rotating spheres, and connect the Brushed Nickel base with an attractive Fabric Shade. The earliest Abacus dates back to the Babylonians circa 300 B.C., but others used by Greeks and Romans in Ancient Times, and by the Chinese and Japanese since 1200 A.D. A mechanical device used for counting; it is not a calculator, but used to keep track of sums while the operator performs calculations in his or her head. The device evolved from a simple need to count, especially for merchants needing to count goods bought and sold, as well as calculating the cost of those goods. Until numbers were invented, these counting devices were used to make everyday calculations. The abacus is a device, having a frame that holds rods with freely-sliding beads mounted on them. "Flip Floor Lamp": Also new is the versatile "Flip Floor Lamp," a unique option in room lighting. This sleek floor lamp offers the "flip" option of being used as either a torchiere or reading lamp, with the flip of its shade. As a reading lamp, its height stands 63 inches, and it stands 69 inches as a torchiere. The lamp is designed with a round White Shade, with a 17-inch diameter, and a base crafted in a handsome Brushed Nickel Finish. The "Flip Floor Lamp" has a suggested retail price of $239.95.
