Crypton introduced an entirely new class of textiles to the performance fabric category – luxury performance fabrics - with the debut two new collections; Milano, a line of etched and patterned suedes, and lush Crypton Velvets. Weaving rich texture into the performance category, both of these new lines are incredibly soft and plush to the hand, yet deceptively strong. Like all Crypton fabrics, they are constructed with Crypton’s patented process: a barrier that allows nothing to penetrate to the cushion, and Crypton’s integrated stain, water, bacteria, and odor resistant system. Textile innovation comes home with Crypton – beautiful, livable fabrics.
Milano:
Milano, the new etched and patterned suede collection, features four distinct patterns, Spina an etched herringbone, Cordo a cord, Charlotta a basket-like pattern, and Serpe, a snakeskin pattern. Available in 12 colorways from a soft pasta blond to a rich roma red, there is something for every aesthetic within this new collection. “Our new etched designs add a depth and texture to our current collection of suedes,” says co-founder of Crypton Randy Rubin. “Each is wonderful to touch, very soft yet strong. We are really excited by this new line and the variety of pattern it offers.”
Cordo is a wonderfully soft corduroy and like Charlotta, adds texture without too much pattern. Spina is a subtle herringbone that is tailored and elegant. And lastly the Serpe snake pattern adds a bit of whimsy and sex appeal to the line.
Crypton Velvets:
Crypton Super Fabrics is also excited to launch the first collection of “performance” velvets to the marketplace. Finally, a velvet that will stand up to life’s little spills. Let’s be honest, life happens, even on velvet. Unveiling three different velvets from a short tight velvet, to a deep, plush velvet, to a velvet/bouclé the line is pure luxury, pure performance. Possessing Crypton’s inherent stain, odor, moisture and bacteria resistant qualities coupled with Crypton’s barrier, these velvets will look beautiful and remain stain free for generations. “Crypton velvet is a technological breakthrough,” says Rubin. “We have been working for years to create soft, luxurious velvets and chenilles that could stand-up to Crypton standards. We have done it and we could not be happier with the results.
About Crypton:
A long-held secret of the hospitality industry, Crypton Super Fabrics are featured throughout the finest hotels, resorts and restaurants around the world. But, the secret is out and now Crypton is now focusing upon the consumer market. With its patented process, Crypton is leading the performance textile industry, being the only textile that is stain, water, and bacteria resistant. The key to this super fabric is its weaving process coupled with its proven barrier; nothing gets through Crypton to the cushions…nothing.
“We are committed to the consumer market. With Crypton’s stain and moisture resistant qualities, why would anyone with kids or pets or a busy household not want to have Crypton,” says Rubin.
Developed by Randy and Craig Rubin, Crypton was born out of the need to create a solution to an age-old problem – a fabric that could be both stain resistant and livable. Together, in the basement of their home in Michigan, they created Crypton. Ten years later, over 20 million yards of Crypton Fabric have been installed around the world.
Crypton is manufactured in the United States at its “Crypton Campus,” in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, which opened in the summer of 2001. The facility produces over 3 million yards of Crypton annually, and is a state-of-the art, environmentally responsible (green) facility dedicated to research, production and testing of Crypton.
In addition, to its own introductions, Crypton will also showcase jacquards from its’ licensed mills at its exhibit SMS 1-449 and 447. Crypton is honored to participate in Showtime and excited to showcase its mills and bring its new collections to the consumer marketplace.
