Badcock has officially launched a new concept store, "Badcock Home Furniture &more," in Bonita Springs, marking the first major change in store and logo design in Badcock's 95-year home furnishings history. The new store is located at 27870 Old 41 Rd. in Bonita Springs. Penny Witsaman and husband Eric are the associate store dealers. "This is an exciting new store that will bring even more value-added benefits to our customers," Barbara Matheny, family co-owner and operator said, "while continuing the outstanding values and service Badcock customers have enjoyed for so many years. "Badcock is introducing this new concept to better serve its existing customers while also appealing to a wider and younger spectrum of customers. The new furniture layout strengthens Badcock's presence as a hometown furniture store. GRID2 International, an internationally recognized retail design firm, was selected to create the interior concept works, based on its experience and successful track record in the retail industry. "We are confident this is the right time for us to step forward and strengthen our role as a major player in the furniture industry," said Don Marks, president of Badcock. "We are very excited with the new image and store design and feel that it clearly represents our commitment for the new millennium to provide our customers with better service, convenience, selection, value and more!" GRID2 International created and tested a design program that appealed to Badcock's broad customer base. The new logo conveys a more contemporary look and communicates Badcock's intentions of providing more to customers. The existing blue traditional logo will be replaced with a more approachable "Badcock Home Furniture &more" using a warm red and gray lettering. "The new logo is distinctive and directly reflects Badcock's promise to provide more selections and ease of shopping," said Martin Roberts, president of GRID2 International. GRID2 continued the identity program inside the store using red T-walls with end caps displaying the logo. Badcock Home Furnishing Centers were founded in 1904 by Henry S. Badcock, in Mulberry, Florida. Under the leadership of his son, Wogan, Sr. and grandson, Wogan, Jr., the number of stores has increased dramatically. Three regional distribution centers serve over 340 locations in seven southeastern states. Of these 340 stores, over 270 are privately owned. Badcock also intends to open 60 new stores in the next five years. Ron and twin brother Don Matheny opened Badcock Home Furnishing of Bonita Springs in 1977. Throughout the years, Bonita Springs has flourished becoming one of southwest Florida's fastest growing cities. With the city's growth, Badcock has grown as well, but remains a family owned and operated store. Penny Witsaman, Ron's daughter, became the dealer after Don retired in 1991 and continues the family's primary goal of, "providing the community with the quality merchandise and service that our customers have become accustomed to... It's still all about the customer." Badcock Home Furniture &more store continues the service of "customer satisfaction guaranteed," Witsaman said. "We are simply offering more." GRID2 International has long been a leader in the furniture design industry. Using consumer focus groups and video research along with innovative store designs, GRID2 has provided some of the most customer friendly retail environments. They pioneered this design concept for the Barnes and Noble Superstores, which has since been implemented in over 500 locations. GRID2's retail programs have been implemented successfully to reposition retailers in a modern environment and to claim a unique identity in competitive markets.
