Mr. Charles Stephen Shaughnessy Jr., 69, of Bermuda Run, N. C., died Thursday, May 14, 1998 at his home. Mr. Shaughnessy was born April 8, 1929 in Jackson Heights, New York to Charles and Grace Shaughnessy. Mr. Shaughnessy retired from the furniture industry, after serving in numerous management positions, including president of Singer Furniture, Burlington Furniture, and Berkline Corporation. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps, serving as a captain during the Korean Conflict. He also graduated from Yale and Harvard Business School. Mr. Shaughnessy is survived by his wife Joy Shaughnessy of the home; a son Steve Shaughnessy of Advance, N.C.; three daughters Susan' Costin and Tricia King of Charlotte, N.C., and Kathy Shaughnessy of Los Angeles, California.; and nine grandchildren, Stephen and Heather Shaughnessy of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Shawn, Casey, Ryan, Jack, and Kelly Costin of Charlotte N.C., and Patrick Lake and Connor King of Charlotte, N , C.; Also surviving is one sister, Katherine Scheifele of San Diego, California. Funeral services were held at The Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons, N.C. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Winston- Salem/Forsyth County, 11 00-C S.
