The WHFA membership unanimously appointed Larry Miller, Sit'N Sleep, Montebello, California as 2000 WHFA President. His installation was held January 21 during the WHFA Annual Membership Meeting at the San Francisco Furniture Market. The Miller family has a long legacy with WHFA. Larry's Father, Phil Miller was WHFA President 1985-86 and is a very active member of WHFA. Upon receiving the gavel, Larry said, "I am inheriting this from a group of fantastic predecessors who set standards that will be hard to meet. I am particularly proud to serve as President of an organization that my father is a Past President." Larry addressed the members, 'WHFA has grown in membership, in financial strength, and in services provided to its members at a fantastic pace the last two years. The addition of our peers in the Pacific North-West states has made WHFA truly representative of the entire Western portion of the United States. WHFA's growth is spectacular when you consider that in 1994, when I joined the board, we had 400 members representing 800 stores. Today we have 900 members representing 2,500 stores." As you can see, WHFA has been a part of my business life for a long time. I have seen how the association has served our business and I am now honored to serve the members as President. WHFA is committed to fulfilling furniture retailer's needs. And we will continue to do so by using the combined buying power of our members to provide savings on products and services, being a central information source on retail issues, and providing members with networking and educational opportunities through conferences and seminars. The more I watch and participate in WHFA, the more impressed I am. I thank you for this special opportunity and look forward to serving you in 2000".
