Western Exhibitors, LLC, producers of gift and home furnishings trade events in San Francisco, Seattle and Portland announced an important date change for the Winter 2002 Portland Gift & Accessories Show®. The new dates for the winter market—held at the Oregon Convention Center—are January 5-8, 2002. The Portland Gift & Accessories Show® is an important event for this Northwest region as many retailers rely solely on its exhibitor base to fill their inventory needs. "By positioning the Portland Gift & Accessories Show® as one of the first markets of the buying season, we will give our retailers a ‘premier opportunity’ to place orders ahead of other events and have merchandise on their shelves prior to many retail stores nationwide," stated Mike Dean, President, Western Exhibitors, LLC "Our goal is to brand the Portland event—giving it a new identity. We believe that the timing of the show—distanced from the major Southern and Southeastern markets and The Seattle Gift Show®—is a step in the right direction," continued Dean. "Many retailers attending the Portland Gift & Accessories Show® rely completely on this market to fill their inventory needs. The January 5-8, 2002 market gives Western Exhibitors more leverage in selling space and attracting a new base normally constrained by date conflicts," added Kelly McLoughlin, Show Manager, Portland Gift & Accessories Show®. "Buyers will benefit from the date change as they will be able to choose from a variety of booths filled with products not yet featured at the Portland market," said McLoughlin. The Portland Gift & Accessories Show is comprised of 650 temporary exhibits in over 60,000 net square feet at the Oregon Convention Center, Portland, Oregon. The product categories are gifts and collectibles; decorative and personal accessories; home furnishings and décor; The Vintage Collection—antiques and found objects; FoodFocus; indoor/outdoor living merchandise; stationery; personal care items; The Jewelry Vaultsm; and the Northwest Craft Gallery. It serves specialty and department stores; gift shops; jewelry and clothing boutiques; galleries; craft retailers; gourmet shops; juvenile stores; nurseries; mail order catalogs; interior and garden designers; importers; and distributors.
