The Furniture Library is a recognized world center for research on not only furniture, but other interior furnishings, decorating and architecture. Museum curators from throughout the world including Morrison H. Heckscher, formerly of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, called the Library "a remarkable collection." The Honorable Christopher Gilbert, Curator of London's Chippendale Museum said, "I came to study the unrivaled collection of original copies of Chippendale designs. Nowhere in Britain could I find such a concentration of original information on Chippendale." Dr. Frank H. Sommer, Head Librarian of Winterthur Museum, stated "This is the largest and most complete furniture library in the world. The pattern books are the finest I've seen."
