Oriental Weavers Senior V.P., Paul D’huyvetter, Dies

Oriental Weavers of America announced the death of its senior vice president, Paul D’huyvetter. D’huyvetter, 59, was considered to be one of the pioneers of the woven rug industry. He died suddenly Friday, Nov. 15th. He was born in Oudenaarde, Belgium, and moved to the United States at age 15. He attended Ohio State University. During the early part of his career, he was a shoe buyer at Lazarus Department Store in Columbus, Ohio. He entered the textile business with Beaulieu of America, and joined OWA in the mid-1990s. While at OWA, D’huyvetter led the company through it’s most dynamic periods of growth.
