Tex-Styles India Fair, A Premier Textile Event: February 1999:

"The fifth annual Tex-Styles India Fair, the premier textile event in South East Asia scheduled for February 1-4, 1999, "promises to be an exciting and profitable experience for North American buyers," said Dr. Shyam S. Agrawal, Resident Director of the India Trade Promotion Organiza-tion. According to Dr. Agrawal, The fourth Tex-Styles India Fair which concluded in February of this year in New Delhi was a resounding Success in terms of business and impressive buyer turn-out. Over 2300 overseas buyers came from as many as 84 countries and this number was supplemented with as many as 670 buying agents of overseas companies based in India who have thronged the fair to witness what many have termed a splendor of Indian textiles. Visitors to the fair crossed the 10,000 mark, firmly establishing this event as the leading fair of its kind in South East Asia. Overseas buyer turnout was 61 per cent higher than the previous show. 'File order booking was 51 per cent more than what was reported by participants in 1997. Response from participants as well as visitors to the show was overwhelming. They generally felt that the fair had come to be recognized as a premier textile event, comparable with the leading international textiles fairs such as Interstoff, Premier Vision and Heimtextil. The event which serves to enhance the global profile of the Indian Textile Industry is complimented with nearly 300 leading companies representing tile entire warp and weft of the textile industry in India including the widest range of yarns, fabrics, dress materials, home furnishings and made-ups. The quality of merchandise, presentation, decor, layout are only some of the features of the fair which were applauded by nearly every visitor. The largest number of buyers came from USA followed by the UK and Japan. World interest in Indian home furnishings remains extremely strong. Of special interest to buyers were products ranging from cushion covers and floor coverings to curtain materials and accessories.
