Even after celebrating its 50th anniversary in business, Ashley Companies, one of the top ten furniture companies in the United States in dollar volume, is still maintaining its commitment to building relationships with all retailers. That is why the company recently announced it will be an exhibitor at Karel Exposition Management's (KEM) Furniture and Decorative Accessory Market in Pomona, Calif. this November. The Karel Exposition show in Southern California should be an excellent opportunity for us to spend time with local dealers, " said Don Webb, vice president of sales for Ashley. "We will be able to listen to what their needs are and determine ways to help them build their businesses." KEM's first show in Pomona will be held November 16, 17 and 18 at the Fairplex. Market Director Larry Karel expects a considerable turnout from national as well as international manufacturers along with local dealers and retail outlets. The main competition is the annual international market in San Francisco. "We have realized the need for a regional market in Southern California," Karel explained. "The small and medium-sized stores have customers who are demanding the latest trends. The business owners want access to the products to have immediately in their showrooms. Having Ashley companies as a major exhibitor shows they have also seen a demand from these types of businesses." Ashley Companies manufactures all types of furniture -- from bedroom and dining room furnishings, and occasional tables to leather upholstery, entertainment units and much more. Other major manufacturers, such as Berkline, will also be exhibiting at the market. KEM, the nation's largest producer of regional furniture and decorative accessory markets, is based in Hollywood, Florida, and produces regional markets in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Edison, N.J.; Baltimore, M.D.; Orlando, Fla.; Las Vegas, Nev.; Fitchburg, Mass.; and Atlanta, Ga. "Not all Southern California retailers attend the San Francisco or the High Point markets," Webb added. "At Ashley, we are committed to building relationships with these retailers." A typical three-day Karel Exposition Management market will have 300 to 1,000 exhibit spaces, and attract 2,000 to 7,000 buyers. The markets are closed to the public, and no one under 13 is allowed in, so manufacturers can deal directly with their retailing customers.
