Trans-Ocean Import Co., Inc., leading importer and distributor of area rugs since 1906, has announced several shifts in its management line-up. Charles Peck has been named company president. A twenty-three year veteran at Trans-Occan, Mr. Peck joined the company from Gimbel's New York- in 1976. During his tenure, he has held the positions of Regional Sales Manager and National Sales Manager as well as his most recent 5 year stint as Vice-President, Sales. Trans-Ocean, long recognized for its innovative marketing and state-of-the-art management systems, is poised for even greater achievement under the young and dynamic leadership of Mr. Peck. With its product development now directed by award-winning designer, Liora Manné, Trans-Ocean, under its Design Rhythms label-has one of the strongest, fashion-forward color and design stories in the industry as well. In a related move, Dean Smith has been promoted to the position of Vice-President, Sales. Mr. Smith joined the company from Burlington House Area Rugs in 1989 and held the positions of Regional Sales Manager and, most recently, National Sales Manager at Trans-Ocean. Allan Wagenheim has been named co-chairman with Ted Hassen. Mr. Wagenheim joined Trans-Ocean from Aldon Rug Mills in 1967 and held the positions of National Sales Manager, Vice-President Sales before his promotion to the position of President in 1985. Mr. Ted Hassen joined Trans-Ocean from May Company, Los Angeles in 1969 and held the positions of Regional Sales Manager, Vice-President dent Product Development and, since 1985, Executive Vice President - COO. "These moves do not represent changes in function, but instead, are the assignment of titles that more accurately reflect the jobs our key people are doing, - stated Wagenheim. "The tradition of TransOcean has always been to promote from within. In so doing, we maintain a consistency of service and management that our customers rely upon. Charley's promotion to the job of President is very much in keeping with these traditions and goals."
