AFMA Recognizes Outstanding Furnpac Contributors At 1998 Annual Meeting

The American Furniture Manufacturers Association (AFMA) recognized several companies as outstanding contributors to FurnPAC, the U.S. furniture manufacturing industry's political action committee. The awards were presented by FurnPAC Chairman Robert H. Spilman, Jr. of Bassett Furniture Industries at the 1998 Annual Meeting in Naples, Florida. The awards for Highest Contributing Member and Highest Company Participation went to La-Z-Boy, Inc., accepted by Pat Norton and Jerry Kiser. The award for Second Place went to Vaughan Furniture Company, Bill Vaughan accepting. Third Place was awarded to Bassett Furniture Industries, Robert H. Spilman, Jr. accepting. Awards were also given to members of the Suppliers Division of AFMA for outstanding contribution. Ray Shufelt of TOP Supplies, Inc. accepted the award for First Place. The award for Second Place was given to Hickory Springs Manufacturing Company, accepted by Don Coleman. Through voluntary contributions, AFMA sponsors an active Furniture Political Action Committee which supports private enterprise candidates seeking election to the United States Senate and House of Representatives. FurnPAC is bipartisan and is governed by a Board of Directors representing small, medium and large furniture manufacturing companies who are Association members.
