Beaulieu Rugs will introduce "The Twentieth Century Unlimited" Collection of contemporary machine-woven area rugs at thisSpring's High Point market. According to Amanda Bickell, Marketing Director for Beaulieu's Canadian division, the collection was produced as a way for the cultural and creative history of this century to be celebrated in rugs designed for the next one, "as fresh to the eye tomorrow as they are today." Ten patterns compose the collection, one for each decade. The rugs feature the predominant artistic styles of the periods - from Art Nouveau and Cubism to Op Art and Technographics, as well as a design motif representing a particular highlight of each decade. "Each rug is a microcosm of the span of time it defines - an idea made real," said Bickell. Beaulieu's High Point showroom is in the IHFC, Design Center #D304. Featured Rugs: MANHATTAN - The 30's saw the first great skyscrapers of New York City, here represented in design elements from the famed Chrysler Building, in subtle blues that evoke the Great Depression. THE VIBE - Innovation and counterculture collided in the 60's, resulting in new ways of seeing things, as captured in this Op Art design. SILICON ZOO - Bits and bytes rewired American culture in the 80's, even as we rediscovered the natural world. In this design, computer technology meets the Serengeti.
