Furniture manufacturing companies now have another tool at their disposal for selling excess inventories of upholstery fabric and used manufacturing machinery. The American Furniture Manufacturers Association (AFMA) has recently completed an addition to the Association's website, which allows manufacturing member companies to list excess upholstery fabric and used manufacturing equipment for sale. Only AFMA manufacturing member companies may list fabric and equipment for sale, but anyone with internet access can view the contents and make purchases directly from the manufacturing companies. The AFMA website can be accessed at www,afmahp.org. All sales transactions will be performed between buyer and seller. When performing a Fabric Remnant Search, browsers can search for specific upholstery fabric patterns by entering the fabric mill name and mill fabric ID number, or scroll through a comprehensive listing of all fabrics for sale at the time. Browsers wishing to search for used machinery can perform a specific search by entering the machinery manufacturer, machine type and model number. A general search through all machinery for sale on the site is also an option for browsers. The goal of this expansion to the AFMA website is to add value to a company's membership in AFMA," said AFMA's Vice President of Manufacturing Larry Runyan. "Ibis is just another way AFMA helps our membership do business more effectively and more efficiently." AFMA is a nonprofit, volunteer organization for U.S. furniture manufacturers, with over 350 corporate members representing 140,000 employees and more than 75% of domestic and global shipments of U.S. furniture. Headquartered in High Point, North Carolina, the world's furniture capital, AFMA also maintains a Washington, DC office to represent the interests of the furniture industry on legislative and regulatory affairs to the government.
