Continuing 18 years of growth and service as the home furnishings hub for the Southeastern United States, Sprintz Furniture opens a new 50,000-square foot store on July 2 in the Cool Springs area. The new showroom, located at 1965 Mallory Lane (Franklin), will be the Nashville company's second store. Sprintz Furniture at Cool Springs features a large Thomasville Home Furnishings Store that will be housed in one-half of the new store. Because of Sprintz Furniture's size and customer reach, the company was chosen by Thomasville as an exclusive retailer. The remaining section of the store will carry brands such as Bernhardt, Stanley, Lexington, Nautica and Bob Timberlake. The Cool Springs store's furniture selection will differ from the White Bridge store and will feature a variety of lifestyle brands. The Cool Springs location will be the company's first foray into what Sprintz chairman Charles Sprintz calls the "second city of Nashville," or more commonly known as the Brentwood and Franklin areas. Sprintz Furniture's flagship 110,000 square foot store is located at 325 White Bridge Road in Nashville. "We chose the Cool Springs area because we view it as a second city of Nashville," Sprintz said. "One look at the population growth, new housing developments and continuous retail growth, and you see that this area has become a metro area in its own right. We believe there is an opportunity to serve the market area south of Nashville without affecting our White Bridge location, which is the largest furniture store in a seven state area." Sprintz noted that the White Bridge flagship store has expanded several times over the years with additional renovations scheduled for late 1999. The new renovations will increase the showroom space from 75,000 square feet to 126,000 square feet. Sprintz said the move to create a second location would not have been possible without the vision of his son, Bruce Sprintz, who became president of Sprintz in 1996 after serving as vice president for 10 years. "We're very excited about our new store. The architects and designers have created an incredible building to showcase the furniture and accessories, said Bruce Sprintz. "There are exquisite architectural details and design elements with an abundance of natural light. The room settings and galleries will be unique and one-of-a-kind. There is definitely not another furniture showroom like our new Cool Springs location." Bruce Sprintz said that the White Bridge store will remain the "big box store" of the Southeastern United States with the Cool Springs location serving the south Nashville metro region. Sprintz at White Bridge is ranked among the country's top 100 single furniture stores based on size and. sales volume. Sprintz also has opened a new 70,000-square-foot distribution center to handle the company's growth. The new facility, which operates with state-of-the-art, radio-controlled bar coding, is located at 6205 Cockerel Bend Circle in Nashville. The new store features galleries for bedding, casual dining, home office furniture, recliners, area and oriental rugs and leather furnishings. The bedding gallery will carry Sealy and Stearns & Foster. Home accessories and accent pieces also will be available as well as thousands of fabrics for customizing furniture, Sprintz, Furniture at Cool Springs has 12 design consultants and five certified interior designers on staff to assist with a customer's interior design needs and provide in-home consultations. The store will be open 10 am to 8 pm Monday and Friday; 10 am to 6 pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday; and from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. Sprintz Furniture was started in June 1981 by Charles and Alyse Sprintz. Sprintz pioneered the concept of the discount furniture showroom in Nashville, offering high-quality furniture at 30 to 40 percent off retail price.
