Craig R. Mayer Joins The Malnight Company

Craig R. Mayer, 49, has joined The Malnight Company as vice president and equity partner, announced Jim Malnight, president. In his new capacity, Mayer will be responsible for all sales and marketing activity for the Grand Rapids, MI manufacturer of moderately priced office furniture for the small and home office markets, as well as youth furniture for the institutional market. Prior to joining The Malnight Company, Mayer served as president of Workplace Products Incorporated, a consultancy, where he was responsible for the development and oversight of international licensing agreements and distribution networks for furniture and technology clients, including Arenson Group (UK) and IBM. He was responsible for the start-up and development of Arenson Group's Kyo Corporation (Best New Furniture System Award, NeoCon 1995), serving as vice president and chief operating officer. Earlier he directed the start-up of HON Export Limited and earlier managed sales and marketing turnaround efforts at Heatilator, Inc. (both divisions of HON INDUSTRIES as an executive at HON INDUSTRIES. "Craig's expertise in marketing and sales, combined with his ability to develop innovative strategies to generate new business is a solid addition to The Malnight Company's management team," said Malnight. "In addition, Craig's previous international success complements our long-term expansion plans." In addition to his sales and marketing experience, Mayer was an associate professor of anthropology/genetics at Southern Methodist University for four years. A graduate of Southern Methodist University, Mayer also studied at Durham University in England and the University of Graz in Austria. The Malnight Company, established four years ago, is a privately-held firm with production facilities in Holland, MI, and Thailand, and distribution centers in Grand Rapids, Atlanta, GA, and Los Angeles, CA.
