A newly completed annex adjoining the exhibition hall of the Kansas City Market Center here will add 15,000 square feet of carpeted exhibition space for the 18th annual Kansas City Home Furnishings Market Sept. 25-27, 1998. Three entrances through the southeast wall of the exhibition hall provide one-step access to the annex. Exhibition space for the 1997 Kansas City Market was fully reserved several months before the market with 15 percent of space applicants on a waiting list three weeks prior to market. The 1997 market drew 10 percent more separate businesses than the previous market in 1996. The Kansas City Home Furnishings Market is sponsored by the Kansas City Home Furnishings Representatives Assn. (PO Box 6344, Leawood, KS 66206). Telephone: 913-438-3622 (different number than that of previous years). The Kansas City Market was reactivated by KCHFRA after an 11-year absence and since has developed into a flourishing marketplace for furniture and accessories retailers in the Heart of America trade area (principally Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and lowa). Geared to convenience and affordability, the market attracts area dealers who have limited shopping and travel time and want to make hands-on choices of furnishings and accessories in a compact setting. Free parking for vehicles of all types is available in paved, lighted lots adjoining the market site that features no-hassle access. The full-service Park Place Hotel is located across the street from the Kansas City Market Center.
