COOK NAMED VP MERCHANDISING FOR LACKAWANNA LEATHER

United States Leather (USL) one of the largest and most diversified producers of leather in North America, has appointed lames M. Cook as Vice President of merchandising for its Lackawanna Leather operations. Cook, who will report to Lackawanna Leather president David R. Mathison will have extensive responsibilities for the company's sales and marketing activities. He will be located in Lackawanna Leather's headquarters in Conover; NC Most recently, Cook has been director of retail development/leather product manager for Flexsteel Industries, where he led the repositioning of that firm's 160-store Flexsteel Gallery program and headed the development of its Comfort Seating by Flexsteel program. Before joining Flexsteel Industries in 1989, Cook served as Advertising Director of Competitive Edge Magazine and was Southwest Regional Manager in Dallas, TX for the National Home Furnishings Association. United States Leather was formed in 1988 when Pfister & Vogel, A. L. Gebhardt and Lackawanna Leather were purchased. USL's holdings include Lackawanna Leather in Conover, NC and Omaha, NE and Pfister & Vogel and A. L. Gebhardt. The company participates in all major finished leather product areas.
